22 April onwards - What's On

'St J of J Festival Chorus' & 'Choeurs Résonances Suresnes' CONCERT (The Fauré 'Requiem' & Vaughan Williams' 'Dona Nobis Pacem'). This evening, Sunday, 22 April at 7pm. All very welcome! Free entry, retiring collection.

Congratulations to Steve who has been appointed Vicar of St Michael & All Angels, Stoke Newington. His final Sunday at St J of J will be 24 June, our Patronal Festival.

Walter Kelly and Val Harding are our elected Churchwardens for 2018-19. Thank you to both of them for being willing to take on this role. Please remember them in your prayers.

If you play an instrument, please tell Victoria, our Director of Music. It doesn't matter at all how good you think you are - she'd like to hear from you.

Calling all those with a particular care for the environment. You might like to sign up for the Stepney Eco Conference. Sat 28 April, 10am - 3pm. St Paul's, Old Ford, St Stephen's Road, E3 5JL. Thurs 3 May: Christ Church, Spitalfields, 7.30pm. An open invitation to all to a service welcoming Bishop Sarah Mullally, the new Bishop of London, to Stepney.

Sat 5 May, 7.30pm. Sophie Cox, Busola, Kev & friends. Pergolesi's 'Stabat Mater' and popular duets. Charity Concert in aid of the St J of J church Organ Fund and 'Help African Schools to Educate' - HASTE. All very welcome!

Christian Aid Quiz. Sat 12 May at 6pm (to mark the start of 'Christian Aid Week'). Choose between Fish & Chips, Chicken & Chips, Vegetarian & Chips. Please sign the sheet at the back of church with your choice of food. We'll start by eating together and then have the Quiz. Tickets (including the food) £10 (adults); £5 (children). There will be a raffle - any raffle prizes gratefully received. All profits will go to Christian Aid.

'Thy Kingdom Come' is a worldwide call to prayer focusing on the period between Ascension Day (10 May) and the Day of Pentecost (20 May). On Sat 19 May you are invited to a 'Beacon Event' at St Paul's Cathedral at 7.30pm. Sunday 20 May 2018. 'Circle the City'. Christian Aid sponsored walk. The walk starts at 1pm at St Mary le Bow (Cheapside, London EC2V 6AU) with a short service (less than 20 mins). There are two distance options: 3 or 6 miles. Registration is from 12 noon (but you also need to pre-register here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/christian-aid-circle-the-city-london-2018-tickets-34715685550 - or ask Andrew, Steve or Gill to help you do that). Individuals or groups can take part. As an individual, you take on the challenge of raising a minimum of £100. If you are unable to raise sponsorship then for a minimum donation of £25 at the door you are very welcome to join in.

We'd like to hear from you if you would be willing to:

- join a rota of altar servers

- Do some ushering when we have baptisms and at major festivals such as Easter and Christmas. These people would be in addition to the Stewards on the rota

- be willing to come in to church to organise the altar linen kept in the Vestry
