What's on - 15 September 2019 onwards

We would like to run a First Aid Course so that we can make sure that there are always First Aiders in our midst. If you'd like to take part, please speak with Gill, Andrew, Manuela.

We will be holding our PET SERVICE on Sunday 29 September at 4pm (the Sunday before the feast-day of St Francis of Assisi). Pets & the people they look after - all very welcome!

ARTS & CRAFTS EXHIBITION Thurs 3 Oct, Private View, 7-9pm with live music. Exhibition, Fr 4th & Sat 5th, 11am - 7pm. Would anyone be willing to make some cakes to be served on Fri & Sat? We will also need 2 people at all times, so if you have any time on 4th & 5th, 11am - 7pm, please let Andrew or Liz Taylor know.

We will be celebrating our HARVEST festival on 6 October. There'll will be a shared meal after church - please bring along some food and we can eat together. Sign up sheet at the back of church if you'd like to say what you're bringing.

We will keep a small amount of food donated at Harvest to give away from the church, and all remaining donations will go to the Hackney Foodbank. The Foodbank needs:

Tinned tuna or mackerel. Tinned fruit. Tinned Veg. Packet soup. Long-life fruit juice. Tinned pulses/chickpeas. Rice pudding. Jars of curry sauce. Soap. They don't need: Pasta. Tea. Please check the 'sell buy' dates.

Who Cares? An Introduction to Pastoral Care Course: 7 Tues evening sessions, 7-9pm, 8th, 15th, 29th Oct and 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th Nov.

Listening • Nature of Pastoral Care • Visiting • Prayer in Pastoral Care • Boundaries and Confidentiality • Bereavement • Using the Bible in Pastoral Care

Full cost is £30 per person. The course takes place at 'Stepney Centre for Training & Development', St Anne's Community Hall, Hemsworth St, Hoxton, N1 5LF. Please speak with Andrew, Gill, Manuela, Basil or Pat if you'd like to think about this.

An exciting Oasis Day led by Doug Hiza & Martin Davies will be held on Tuesday, 10th October at St. Andrew's Church, Holborn from 10:30am-3:30pm entitled: The Cost of Discipleship. It's based on the book by the German Theologian, Deitrich Bonhoffer. What will it cost YOU to be a disciple of Jesus Christ? True discipleship is not easy in this 21st century. Come and find out how to be a better disciple and what it might just cost you. Cost for the day is just £10 which includes lunch & all handouts! The next church cleaning - unusually - will be on the second Saturday of October - 12 Oct, 9.30-11.30am.

Barts Health NHS Trust & St Joseph's Hospice 'Annual Remembrance' Service at St Paul's Cathedral. 27 Oct, 6pm. A service in memory of those who have died. No tickets needed - all welcome.

The next PCC meeting will be 12 Nov (8.05pm, after the 7.30pm Eucharist).

This year's Confirmation will be on Sat 16 Nov, 5pm. If you'd like to be confirmed, or talk about it, please sign the list at the back of church. Preparation classes start on 3 October.
