Manuela's sermon for this Sunday:
Sermon for 22 November - Christ the King
To everyone at St John of Jerusalem and to anyone who would like to be connected with us,
You'll find below information that we hope will help you to worhsip at home, and also let you know about when the church buiding is open for individual prayer.
(1) As last week, the church will be open for individual prayer from 10am-12noon and from 4-5pm on Sunday. You'd be so welcome to come at any time to say a prayer in church if you'd like to.
(2) Sadly we can't have our normal 10am Sunday service but for those of you who are able and would like to get together on Zoom, there will be a Zoom service at 10am. If you would like to be sent the link or learn how to use Zoom, please contact Andrew, Shana or Manuela.
(3) We have recorded a Eucharist for this Sunday (Christ the King - 22 November 2020) and that will be on our church YouTube channel by Saturday evening so that you can watch it any time that suits you on Sunday. Anyone who can access the internet should be able to watch it as you don't have to subscribe to YouTube. The link to that channel is here:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFC-cFhoROFFMNrA2HAz-cw?view_as=subscriber
If don't have time to watch the whole service but you'd like to listen to the sermon, you'll see below the video the point in the service (in minutes and seconds) when the sermon is preached and you can easily fast forward to that if you'd like to.
(5) I will put the Collect and readings and the text of the sermon for this Sunday on our parish website for anyone who would like to say their own prayers at home, but who would prefer not to be next to their computer (which is very understandable). You'll be able to find those by Saturday evening on www.sjoj.co.uk
(6) There is Zoom Junior Church on Sun 22 Nov at 2pm. If you would like to receive the link for this please get in contact with Manuela or Andrew.
(7) At the moment the church is open for individual prayer on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11.30am - 12.30pm. Please don't even think about this if you wouldn't feel safe doing it, but if there are people who would feel safe and would like to be on a midweek church opening rota, please get in touch with me. We have one person who has recently volunteered. We really need two people - so if you'd like to be that second person do please get in touch and we could add another midweek day.
(8) During the last lockdown many of us tried our best to say the Lord's Prayer at 12 noon. I'd encourage you to keep up with that if you're able to. The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are also encouraging us to say a prayer at 6pm so that Christian people around the country can be united in prayer at that time of day. If you could add that to your schedule that would be great. If you think you might find it helpful, please take a look a look at the leaflet that has been produced to accompany the 6pm call to prayer. To see the leaflet click on the link below:

At the moment we know that there won't be ordinary Sunday serivces in church until Sunday 6th December. We don't know, as yet, what sort of restrictions will be left in place after the end of this lockdown on 2nd December, so we'll have to let you know nearer the time about anything that affects churches.
Thinking of you all and praying for you during lockdown. Also, hugely looking forward to seeing you all again in person.
Every blessing,
Andrew
