Andrew's sermon for this Sunday:

Sermon for Advent Sunday - 29 November 2020

To everyone at St John of Jerusalem and to anyone who would like to be connected with us,

Every blessing for Advent - which begins on Sunday 29 November.

(1) A special treat for Advent Sunday is that we have an Advent Evensong on Zoom at 4pm. If you'd like to be sent the Zoom link please contact Andrew.

(2) As last week, the church will be open for individual prayer from 10am-12noon and from 4-5pm on Sunday. You'd be so welcome to come at any time to say a prayer in church if you'd like to.

(3) Sadly we can't have our normal 10am Sunday service this Sunday (though we will have one on 6 December at 10am) but for those of you who are able and would like to get together on Zoom, there will be a Zoom service at 10am. If you'd like the Zoom link please contact Andrew.

(4) We have recorded a Eucharist for this Sunday (Advent - 29 November 2020) and that will be on our church YouTube channel by Saturday evening so that you can watch it any time that suits you on Sunday. Anyone who can access the internet should be able to watch it as you don't have to subscribe to YouTube. The link to that channel is here:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFC-cFhoROFFMNrA2HAz-cw?view_as=subscriber

If don't have time to watch the whole service but you'd like to listen to the sermon, you'll see below the video the point in the service (in minutes and seconds) when the sermon is preached and you can easily fast forward to that if you'd like to.

(5) I have put the Collect and readings and the text of the sermon for this Sunday on our parish website for anyone who would like to say their own prayers at home, but who would prefer not to be next to their computer (which is very understandable). You'll be able to find those by Saturday evening - links from our home page.

(6) There is Zoom Junior Church on Sun 29 Nov at 2pm. If you would like to receive the link for this please get in contact with Manuela or Andrew.

(7) At the moment the church is open for individual prayer on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11.30am - 12.30pm.

(8) During the last lockdown many of us tried our best to say the Lord's Prayer at 12 noon. I'd encourage you to keep up with that if you're able to. The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are also encouraging us to say a prayer at 6pm so that Christian people around the country can be united in prayer at that time of day. If you could add that to your schedule that would be great. If you think you might find it helpful, please take a look a look at the leaflet that has been produced to accompany the 6pm call to prayer. To see the leaflet click on the link below:

An email has gone out about our Christmas Services - which this year we're asking people to sign up for - either on Eventbrite, or in person on a sheet in church.

I'm so pleased to be able to invite you back to church at 10am on December 6th - St Nicholas Day.

Every blessing,

Andrew
